NET-ZERO CHALLENGE

Maverin is deeply committed to environmental stewardship and sustainability. Rooted in a strong connection to the land and respect for nature, sustainability is embedded in every aspect of our operations.

Recognizing the urgency of climate change, we are proud to have joined Canada’s Net-Zero Challenge (NZC), reinforcing our dedication to achieving Net-Zero greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 2050. Our first major milestone is a 40% reduction in Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 2035, using 2023 as our baseline year.

ROADMAP

To meet this ambitious goal, Maverin has developed a comprehensive roadmap with clear interim targets and mitigation strategies. We are actively implementing Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions reduction initiatives, such as energy efficiency upgrades, high-efficiency heating systems, and transitioning to renewable energy sources. Additionally, we are creating carbon accounting tools to track and measure our emissions accurately, ensuring transparency and accountability in our progress.

OUR APPROACH

Our approach includes two key reduction pathways:

01

CARBON OFFSETS

Gradual Progression with Offsets, focusing on internal energy efficiency improvements and the purchase of verified Canadian carbon offsets.

02

FOSSIL FUELS

Accelerated Transition to Renewable Energy, which involves direct investments in green energy and further operational changes to reduce reliance on fossil fuels.

SHAPING A SUSTAINABLE FUTURE

Maverin recognizes potential risks that could impact our Net-Zero journey, including regulatory changes, financial constraints, employee engagement, and reliance on carbon offsets. To mitigate these risks, we will work closely with industry partners, government initiatives, and Indigenous communities while continuously optimizing our energy use and emissions strategies.

As part of our commitment to transparency and accountability, Maverin will report annually on our climate commitments and progress. Through strategic planning, operational excellence, and ongoing collaboration, we are confident that we can lead the way toward a more sustainable future for Canada and its Indigenous communities. By taking meaningful action today, we are ensuring a cleaner, more resilient tomorrow.
